5 Day Training Workshop

This is an introductory workshop on longitudinal data analysis using large scale secondary surveys. The overall ethos of the five days will be getting researchers started and developing basic skills and competence with longitudinal data. This workshop will include a mixture of presentations and practical computer based lab sessions. Participants will be introduced to different sources of longitudinal data and various approaches to their analysis. Social science based examples will be employed throughout the workshop but the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS) in particular will be used extensively. The value of longitudinal data and their scope and limitations will be highlighted.

The workshop is free (including food and accommodation). You will have to find the full cost of your travel to the workshop as this is NOT funded.

The workshop/seminar begins on Monday 11th August 2008 at 9.00 am.

The workshop/seminar will end on Friday 15th August 2008 at 1.00 pm.

This seminar is designed to provide a brief and highly accessible introduction to quantitative longitudinal data for social researchers and post-graduate students who are completely new to this area.

This seminar is aimed at researchers whose interests are substantive rather than methodological and who may wish to engage with longitudinal data but have no clear point of access.
